Located in one of the few growing areas of San Jose, the Evergreen School District has been undertaking a major construction program to accommodate large residential developments within its boundary. This project is the fourth new elementary school in the past 15 years AEDIS has designed for the District. Like the previous 3, it is built on a site with significant challenges due to sloping topography and limited acreage.

All school facilities are housed in a single two-story structure. Spaces are laid out in a meandering plan which follows the contours of the site. To reduce the visual impact to neighboring residents, the design uses alternating one-story and two-story roof forms. Large windows are provided in all classrooms and major spaces for day-lighting as well as take advantage of the beautiful view of the eastern foothills.
