DELAINE
EASTIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
This two-story, single-building elementary school is built
on a small site adjoining a joint-used park in the southwestern
part of Union City, California. Classrooms are housed on both
floors along the two legs of a simple L shape. Key facilities,
including the multi purpose room, library and administration
are located at the bend, for proximity to the rest of the building.
This project sets a new trend with a compact two-story design
to accommodate a relatively large student enrollment. The concept
was subsequently applied with modifications at other projects
such as the new Burbank Elementary School in Hayward, California.
