HIGH SCHOOL
For over 30 years, AEDIS has played a key part in the transformation
of Logan High School, from a 1,200-student small campus to a
4,200-student mega-high school. This evolution is the result
of a deliberate strategic approach by the school district to
concentrate its resources in a single high school, rather than
dilute them over several campuses.
The school has been expanded and modernized several times in its
history, making it a key asset to the community. Current modernization
efforts involve the reconstruction of the entire rear half of the
campus. All portable buildings are removed to make room for a series
of two-story classroom buildings and new student courtyards. Vocational
shops and maintenance facilities are relocated from the campus
center to its fringe. A new music and performing art complex, including
a 600-seat theater, will visually anchor the front.
The school has operated in a “school within a school” concept
for some time. The current modernization formalizes this arrangement
by creating a clear identity for each sub-school, or academic house.
Each house will have its own administrative center and will be
self-contained with the exception of physical education and major
elective subjects. Each house also has its own student social center
in the form of a large landscaped courtyard with covered dining
areas. |
